biography

Almira Emiri was born on December 1982 in Tirana, the capital of Albania. She was the second of two children, born to Valentina and Shpetim Alizot Emiri. From her mother's side she is the niece of an albanian sculptor, Fuat Dushku. After her birth, her family had to move to Fier. At the age of 7 she started her musical education in Fier, at the elementary School "Jakov Xoxa". Her teacher was Maria Rafaeli. During the hard conditions in Albania, in absence of an instrument, she had to practise and have lessons on the drew Claviatura.
In 1993 she performed her first solo Concert, at the Cultural Music Hall, in Fier. At the age of 10 she was the winner of C.I.C.A.L. competition in Albania, and won a tour of concerts in Italy. She performed 45 Concerts in Italy, in just one month. Since 1993 she has played many times for the Albanian Television (TVSH), and Albanian Classical Radio. At the age of 11 she continued her studies in Tirana, at "Kongresi i Permetit" school, her piano professor was Nedi Dizdari. She was 12 years old when she went to Hungary to continue her studies. She studied 3 years in Szekesfehervar, at "Hermann Laszlo" Music School, her teacher was Larisa Bornemisa. In 1997 she won the 1. price in Hungarian National Piano Competition.
In 1998 she won the 1. price in another Hungarian National Piano Competition. At the same time she passed the admission examination at "Bartok Bela" Conservatory in Budapest. At the Conservatory, she studied with prof. Mariann Abraham until 2002. In 2001,2002 and 2003 she was invited as a soloist for concerts at the Music Academy of Tirana, from "Jeunesse Musicale d'Albanie". These were her shining returns to Albania, after her move to Hungary. In 2002 she succeeded in the admission examination at "Liszt Ferenc" University of Music, and followed her studies with prof. Lehel Both. During her studies at "Liszt Ferenc" University, she won a special prize in "Liszt-Bartok" International Competition, in 2004.
In 2006 she was invited as a soloist at Tirana's Opera House, in the same summer she was invited in Italy as well. She had a solo concert in Rome, "Teatro di Marcello", which had a great success as well. A few weeks after the concert in Italy, she won the special prize in " Johannes Brahms" International Piano Competition, in Pörtschach (Austria). During her last school year in Budapest, she started the Master studies in Graz (Austria), Universitat für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. In 2006 she graduated in Budapest, as a piano teacher and a chamber musician. In Graz she studied with prof. Annamaria Bodoky-Krause, and graduated in 2008 as a concert pianist. In 2007 she was invited in Budapest to perform as a soloist in "Palace of Arts", at "Bartok Bela" National Music Hall. Now she is studying with Eugen Jakab.

During her studies in Graz, she established her Trio called "BABAMETO". With this name she wanted to keep the family name of her grand mother. Trio "BABAMETO" was put together on November 2007, in Graz. Their chamber music teacher is the well known pianist and chamber musician Chia Chou. Last year she performed a number of concerts as a solo pianist and as a chamber musician in Europe.
She participated in many Master Classes, with Alexander Satz,Dimitri Bashkirov, Rohman Imre,  Rudolf Kehrer, Ludmilla Lazar, Vitaly Margulis. Since 2001 she has been consulting a few times per year with Livia Rev in France.
